Isle of Wight Cycling Festival 18th-26th Setember 2010

I will be leading a ride (one of the routes from the book) on Tuesday 21st September.

You are welcome to come along, no charge, and bring a picnic!

The ride will leave Newtown Old Town Hall at 11.00am. (there are toilets near the start but they are run by the National Trust so please put some change in the donation box if you visit the facilities!)

Please bring a picnic (also a good idea to bring something to sit on, plastic bag etc as the picnic area is on grass, no benches). We will be passing Chessell Pottery, so there is an option for non-picnic bods to stop there. The picnic will take place in a sheltered chalk pit, with grassy banks to sit on, a short distance South of the pottery

The idea is to spend around 45 minutes at the chalk pit, don't want to rush the food, before proceeding on the route. The route does have undulations but the pace is intended to be at a 'pottering' level with regular stops to make sure everyone is comfortable, we want to enjoy the countryside on our journey.

The finish will be back at the start, Newtown Old Town Hall.

The total distance including the picnic stop is around 14 miles/23km and a map of the route, as printed in the book, can be viewed here.

Cheers,
Al
